Qüata

Qüata is a social and community-focused mobile platform designed to connect people, neighborhoods and communities through posts, conversations and multimedia content. Explore a visual feed featuring text, image and video posts. Share moments, ideas, announcements or content of interest; engage through comments, likes and shares; follow other users and discover nearby or thematic communities. Qüata is designed to keep you connected with what is happening around you and to facilitate communication between people. The app combines social networking, messaging and creative tools in a seamless mobile experience. Users can browse part of the content anonymously and access social features after signing in. From their account, users can publish content, chat with others, participate in community discussions, customize their profile and manage their activity within the platform. Beyond its social features, Qüata includes a technological initiative focused on the preservation, promotion and digitalization of the vernacular languages of Equatorial Guinea. The application incorporates an experimental machine translation system capable of translating conversations, comments and text content between Fang, Spanish, English and French. This system is powered by a specialized language model developed specifically for Qüata and trained using aligned bilingual corpora, digitized dictionaries and carefully curated linguistic resources for Fang. Its purpose is to facilitate communication between speakers of different languages, increase the digital presence of Fang and establish a technological foundation that can be expanded in collaboration with linguists, cultural organizations and public institutions. One of Qüata’s most innovative features is the integration of one of the earliest modern Fang machine translation systems designed for real-world use inside a social platform. While still experimental and continuously evolving, it represents an important step toward bringing vernacular African languages into modern digital environments. Key Features: - Community feed with text, image and video posts. - Private messaging and real-time conversations. - Communities and neighborhoods within Qüata. - User profiles, following system and shared content. - Comments, likes, reactions and sharing options. - Built-in image editing before publishing. - Built-in video editing with optional automatic subtitle generation. - Integrated translation system for conversations, comments and text content, including experimental Fang support with bidirectional translation to and from Spanish, English and French. - Shared files and multimedia content within chats. - Configurable SOS contacts for quickly notifying trusted people in important situations. - Notifications to stay up to date with messages and relevant activity. - Reporting tools, user blocking and community protection features. - Interface localized in Spanish, English and French. Qüata is primarily aimed at adult users in Equatorial Guinea, although it can be used by people anywhere in the world. Its goal is to provide a close, visual and useful digital space where people can share information, communicate, create content and strengthen community life. The application contains no advertisements and does not require in-app purchases. Some features may require an internet connection, device permissions or user authentication to function correctly. Qüata brings together community, communication, multimedia creation and linguistic innovation in a single platform designed to keep people connected to their environment, their communities and the languages that form part of their cultural identity.
