HeightCzech Live

HeightCzech is a practical mobile application for measuring tree height directly in the field using your smartphone. The app combines the phone camera with built-in motion sensors such as the gyroscope and accelerometer to estimate tree height from a known distance. This allows users to carry out quick and simple height measurements without needing additional forestry instruments. HeightCzech is designed for foresters, forestry students, researchers, and anyone interested in forest measurements and field data collection. The interface is simple, clear, and suitable for outdoor use. How it works Aim the phone at the base of the tree and then at the top. Based on the measured angle and the entered or known distance from the tree, the app calculates the tree height. Main features • Measure tree height using your smartphone • Use the camera for aiming at the tree base and top • Height estimation based on internal phone sensors • Simple and fast interface suitable for field work • Useful for forestry practice, teaching, and demonstrations • Works offline without an internet connection HeightCzech demonstrates how modern mobile technology can support traditional forestry measurements in an accessible and convenient way. It is a lightweight field tool for quick tree height estimation whenever a dedicated hypsometer or other measuring device is not available. If you want it a bit more “store-like” and polished, this version is stronger: HeightCzech is a simple and practical smartphone app for measuring tree height in the field.
