Open the app and you get a live, compass-guided list of the interesting places around you — castles and cathedrals, museums, natural wonders, famous buildings, historic stations — each with its direction, distance and category. Turn around and the arrows turn with you. Tap a place for the story: a summary and photo drawn from Wikipedia, and a link to the full article. WORKS OFFLINE Proxigem ships with a worldwide base map of notable places, so it shows something useful anywhere from day one — no signal needed. For richer coverage, download the detailed pack for your country (or the one you're travelling to) and it merges seamlessly into your map. EXPLORE THE MAP Browse places on an OpenStreetMap view: see what's clustered around you, filter by category — nature, culture, transport and more — and plan where to wander next. KNOW WHERE YOU ARE A simple "You're in …" banner names the suburb, town or area you're standing in — handy when you step off a train somewhere new. RATE THE GEMS Loved a place? Give it 1–5 stars. Ratings are anonymous — no account needed — and community averages are built into the offline packs, so you can see what other explorers thought even without a connection. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account. No ads. No analytics or tracking SDKs. Your GPS position is processed entirely on your device and is never sent to our server.
