Pause – Mindful App Use

A small pause can change what happens next. Pause helps you use your phone more intentionally by giving you a moment to stop and think before opening the apps you choose. Select the apps where you'd like a little extra friction. When you open one of your selected apps, Pause detects the app opening and displays a short pause screen before you continue. You can take a breath, decide whether you actually want to use the app, and then choose to continue or go back. 🌿 PAUSE BEFORE YOU SCROLL Instead of automatically opening an app, take a moment to check in with yourself. Pause gives you: • A short intentional pause before selected apps • An optional breathing experience • A reminder to think before continuing • The choice to continue or go back • Full control over which apps trigger a pause • A simple, distraction-free interface Pause doesn't decide which apps you should avoid. You decide which apps to pause. 📱 CHOOSE YOUR APPS Select the apps where you'd like Pause to add a moment of friction. You might choose: • Social media apps • Short-video apps • News apps • Games • Other apps you find yourself opening automatically You can change your selected apps at any time. 🔐 ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE Pause uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect when an app that you have selected for a pause comes to the foreground. This Accessibility Service access is required for Pause's core functionality because Android does not otherwise provide Pause with the information it needs to detect when your selected apps are opened. When Pause detects a selected app opening, it uses the detected app information only to determine whether the Pause intervention should be shown. Pause does not use Accessibility Service to: • Read the content of other apps • Read messages or emails • Read passwords or form contents • Access photos or videos • Access files or documents • Access contacts • Perform actions inside other apps • Automatically click buttons or enter information in other apps Pause does not send the detected app information to a server. The selected apps and Pause preferences are stored locally on your device. You must explicitly give Pause permission to use Android's Accessibility Service before this functionality can work. 🧘 TAKE A MOMENT When you open a selected app, Pause can show its intervention screen before you continue. Depending on your settings, you can use a short breathing experience during the pause. When the pause is over, you decide what happens next: Continue or Go back.
