Powerful Prayers for Mothers

Need a Mother's Day prayer to celebrate and honor the special woman in your life? Mothers are pillars of the family structure. We often seek them for empathy and a listening ear in times of trouble. No matter who we grow up to be, or how far away we roam, sometimes we just need the affirmation of a mom’s gentle hug. Mother's Day offers the perfect opportunity to bless your mom and pray for her! God has given us mothers to carry us, raise us, teach us, and mold us into godly people. Of course no mother is perfect, and not everyone grew up with a loving mother. But every mother out there — from the one who feels she was born to be a mom to the one who struggles with the title — deserves honor and praise for the role God has given them. A role that reflects God in a deeply profound way. There are many prayers for mothers in the Bible that we can use to bless and encourage our mothers. Whether you are looking for prayers for your own mother or want to express your appreciation for close friends and family members, Scripture is filled with powerful truths that will uplift mothers in many different seasons of life. Therefore think prayers for mom are an excellent way to show your appreciation and love for her. You can pray about many things, from asking God to give her strength or help with tough decisions, to thanking Him for how much he has blessed you because she’s been there every step of the way. We thank you for mom. You created such a precious identity and role for a woman who raises children. We thank you for the ways mom takes care of us, how mom teaches us, and how mom sacrifices so much for her family. We give thanks for the faith and spirituality that mom passes on to the next generation, and that mom takes seriously the biblical instruction to train a child up in the ways of the Lord. Mom works so hard in and out of the home to provide for the many physical, emotional, and spiritual needs for her family, and we thank you, Lord, for the passion and heart mom has to work hard and glorify you. We are grateful for how you strengthen, equip, and empower mom to be the hands and feet of Jesus in her home and community. We thank you for the countless ways she blesses us and takes care of us. Thank you, Lord, for blessing our family with a mom who shows what it means to put others before herself.Amen! Whether you have ten kids or one kid, whether you're financially stable or living paycheck to paycheck, whether you have the support of a community or feel isolated, parenting is challenging. My heart goes out to many families and mothers who have to face difficulties and burdens in life that I’ve never experienced. Just like those that they divvy out encouragement, care, and love to, mothers desire and require the same. While we often look at them as superwoman in human form, their needs are just as important as everyone else's, and moms — though rarely expressing their needs — often consider themselves last in everything. That's why it's good for moms who practice Christianity (or are perhaps just spiritually inclined) to know that there are amazing stories about women in the Bible that can be read to help uplift, strengthen, and remind them of the undeniable power that God has given them.
