Full description
A pocket toolkit for league pool players. Work out your real odds before a match, measure how hard you actually break, rate the table you are playing, and log your matches so you can see your current skill level. Seven tools. No account, no ads, no tracking — and it all works in airplane mode. Every screen links to a plain-language guide explaining exactly how its number is worked out, including where a figure is a calibrated estimate rather than a rule off the scoresheet. BREAK SPEED — YOUR PHONE AS A RADAR GUN You don't need a radar gun — just the distance the cue ball travelled and the time it took. Pick your table size and drag the cue ball anywhere behind the head string; the travel distance follows. Then put the phone on the rail, hit record, and break normally. The mic times the gap between two cracks — the tip hitting the cue ball, the cue ball hitting the rack — and turns it into mph or km/h. It reads the room's noise floor first, so a loud bar doesn't fool it. It shows you the waveform it heard with a marker on each crack, so you can drag one if it guessed wrong. And it warns you when it isn't sure, rather than quietly reporting a wrong number. BREAK LOG Save each measurement and your break becomes a trend: best, average, a speed-over-time chart, and the numbers behind every figure. APA 8 BALL — WHAT THE MATCHUP IS WORTH Set both skill levels and the app fills in the rest: the race each player is on, single-game odds, every score line with its own probability, and the match points each line pays. Useful for deciding a lineup, or for checking whether a mismatch is as lopsided as it looks. FARGO MATCH The same odds engine driven off two Fargo ratings, with race lengths you set yourself, up to a race to 50 — for brackets, gambling sets, and leagues that handicap on Fargo. Includes a BCA-style games handicap, so you can propose a fair spot. TABLE DIFFICULTY A bar box and a tournament table are not the same game. Four tape-measure numbers give you a Table Difficulty Factor, a verdict from Too Easy to Too Tough, and a plain sentence like "about 12% tougher than a standard table". Save every room you play in and see them ranked on one bar. APA 9 BALL AND 8 BALL LOGGING Your handicap is what the league assigned you; your scoring pace is what you are actually doing. Log your matches — innings, defensive shots, points, match points, win or loss — and the app works out the level you are performing at. 9-ball reports points per inning over the best 10 of your last 20, charted against the skill bands, and flags which matches count. 8-ball has no points, so pace means innings: innings per win, innings per rack and win percentage over the same window. Both loggers also rank every player against the pace expected at their own level, so an SL3 and an SL7 can be read side by side. Color says who is pushing up, who is holding and who is soft. If you are a captain, that is your roster view. WHERE YOUR DATA LIVES On your phone. Nothing to sign up for, no network requests of its own, no ads, no analytics, no crash reporting. Your logs, break history and saved tables sit in the app's private storage, and both match logs export to a JSON file you can restore on another phone or feed to your favorite AI. The microphone is used only on the break-speed screen, only while it is listening. Audio is analyzed in memory to find two impacts; no recording is saved or transmitted — what persists is a number. A NOTE ON THE NUMBERS The race charts and 9-ball point requirements are transcribed from APA's own materials. The skill-level bands the comparison screens grade you against are calibrated estimates from match data, not official figures and the guide says so wherever they are used. Pool Captain is an independent app, not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the American Poolplayers Association, FargoRate, or any league operator or rating service. Table difficulty ratings use Dr. Dave Alciatore's Table Difficulty Factor system.

What's new

Two changes: - Increased break timeout from 25 seconds to 90. - Added ability to sort 9 ball team by "Speed to Skill Level Target" as well as just "Speed".
