Full description
PocketGPG encrypts files on your phone with a passphrase, and produces ordinary OpenPGP files that anyone can open with GnuPG on a computer, or the app itself. One passphrase locks the file and the same passphrase unlocks it. There are no keys to generate and no keyring to manage. Whoever you send a file to just needs the passphrase, and how you get it to them is up to you. WHAT IT DOES • Pick any files and encrypt them into .gpg files • Choose your cipher: AES-256, AES-192, AES-128, Camellia, Twofish, and Blowfish or 3DES where you need compatibility with older tools • ASCII armour if you want text you can paste into a message • Combine several files into a single .zip and encrypt that as one file • Decrypt anything made by PocketGPG or by gpg --symmetric • Shred originals after encrypting, overwriting the contents rather than just deleting them WORKS WITH REAL GPG Files are standard OpenPGP. On a computer, gpg -d opens them. Your passphrase is turned into a key on the device using OpenPGP's salted, iterated SHA-256 function, and every file carries an integrity check so tampering is detected. NO INTERNET PERMISSION PocketGPG requests no permissions at all. It cannot open a network connection, so nothing can be uploaded, and there is no account or telemetry and no ads. Files stay in the folder you choose. Tapping Share hands a file to whichever app you pick, and that app does the sending. ABOUT SHREDDING Shredding overwrites a file's contents before deleting it. On phone flash storage, wear levelling can leave the old data readable until it is reused, so treat it as making casual recovery hard rather than as a guarantee. There is no way to recover a lost passphrase. Write it down before you encrypt anything you cannot afford to lose. Open source licences Full notices are in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md in the source repository.

What's new

Added ability to pick extension at decrypt, and view text files in app in memory without decrypting to a file.
