Pocket Auction

Pocket Auction is a saleroom that fits in your hand. Lots come up on a real clock, rival collectors bid against you in real time, and every hammer price is settled from your paddle account. A ROOM THAT BIDS BACK Every lot draws its own crowd. Each rival holds a private opinion of what the piece is worth, answers at their own pace, and some of them sit on their hands until the final seconds. You will feel the difference between a quiet weekly sale and a legendary lot with eight paddles in the room. Bid one step at a time, or leave a maximum with the house and let it execute for you exactly like a commission bid - it raises you by a single increment at a time and stops the moment the price passes your limit. A bid inside the last ten seconds pushes the clock back, so sniping alone will not win you anything. WHAT YOU ARE BUYING Thirty-seven consignments across six departments: watches, art, cars, coins, jewellery and antiques. From a Seiko chronograph at a few hundred dollars to a Carrera RS, a Ming vase and a high relief Double Eagle. Every lot carries a printed estimate, a reserve, a rarity and a real market value that the estimate only hints at. Buy under the estimate and you have made money before you leave the room. Winning costs the hammer price plus a 12% buyer's premium, so the last step always matters. A COLLECTION THAT MOVES Everything you win lands in your collection with what you paid, what it is worth today and the return in between. Values move on a six hour market cycle, so a piece bought well can appreciate while you sleep - and a piece bought in the heat of the room can sit underwater for a while. Consign anything back to the house at any time and take the proceeds, minus 8% commission. DEAL STATISTICS The profile keeps the full record: lots won and lost, win rate, bids placed, spent at the rostrum, collection at cost and at today's values, unrealised profit, net worth, highest hammer paid, best profit on a sale, and a breakdown of your holdings by department.
