Ping Harbor

LISTEN TO THE GRID Ping Harbor puts you at an old acoustic survey terminal. Behind the green display are several hidden beacons. Every ping provides one precise clue: the number of horizontal and vertical grid steps from the selected cell to the nearest beacon. A zero means a beacon occupies that exact cell. Your job is to combine these readings until you can mark every beacon correctly. ASK A USEFUL QUESTION In PING mode, tap a square to measure its distance. The number remains on the grid, allowing you to compare it with later readings. Pinging the same square again does not create an extra reading or increase the ping count. Start with widely separated measurements, inspect the possible locations, then narrow down a region with a more focused question. There is no timer forcing you to choose before you are ready. TURN INFORMATION INTO A MAP Switch to MARK mode to select suspected beacon locations. A gold ring records a mark, and tapping it again removes it. You cannot place more marks than the survey contains beacons, so the count above the display always tells you how many locations remain to be assigned. Marks are your own deductions; the game does not silently confirm them as you place them. Tap Check when you believe the complete set is correct. LEARN FROM THE READINGS Optional guide shading darkens cells that would contradict an existing distance reading because they are too close to a ping. It eliminates impossible cells without claiming that every remaining cell contains a beacon. Reveal makes a zero-distance ping at one unmarked beacon and adds a scoring penalty. An incorrect Check also adds a penalty, but the survey stays open so you can revise your marks. Fewer pings and penalties produce a better star result when the survey is completed. FIFTY QUIET INVESTIGATIONS The fifty surveys use different hidden arrangements. Later surveys expand the grid or add another beacon. Every survey can be solved by reading the grid, and all are available from the challenge chooser. The terminal uses a portrait layout with a large square display, clear mode switching and separate Reveal and Check controls. Its brushed metal and phosphor graphics frame the puzzle without introducing extra rules. Pause preserves your readings, marks and penalties for Continue. Settings offer sound, haptic response, a decorative ping highlight and deduction shading. All interface text is English. Ping Harbor works offline, requests no permissions and contains no accounts, advertisements, purchases or multiplayer features. Progress belongs to this installation; removing application data removes the saved survey. Take one reading, reconsider the possibilities and let a hidden pattern gradually become certain.
