Full description
A quiet journal for the walks you take with a camera. Where Do I Take Photograph records your route, lets you mark the spots you shoot from, and gives you a beautiful, private archive of where your photographs come from. No accounts. No cloud. No sharing. Your spots stay yours. Built for photographers who walk — street, landscape, urban, travel. How it works Start a session when you head out with your camera. The app records your GPS path in the background while you walk, with a persistent notification so you always know it's running. When you stop to shoot, mark the spot with a quick photo, a few notes, and a rating. Or let the app notice you stopped and nudge you. When you get home, stop the session and review the whole walk on a map. Later, when you've processed your photos at the kitchen table, come back and attach the finished images to the spots they came from. Your archive grows quietly, walk by walk. What you can do - Record a session: continuous GPS tracking with a clean foreground notification, designed to keep working when your screen is off. - Mark a spot during a session: photo, notes, rating, location pinned to where you actually stood. - Optional stop detection: after about thirty seconds stationary, the app offers to save a spot. Toggle it off if you prefer to work manually. - Browse history: every past session on a map, with the route drawn and every spot pinned. - Attach processed photos later: drop your edited JPEGs onto the spots they came from. - Collections: group spots by trip, by theme, by neighborhood — whatever helps you find them again. - Export to Google Maps: send a collection or session over to Google Maps as a list of places, so you can navigate back. - Full backup and restore: export everything to a single file via Android's file picker; restore on the same or another device. What this app does not do - It does not have a social feed. There is no following, no commenting, no leaderboard. - It does not have a cloud. Your data lives on your device. - It does not edit your photos. Use your editor of choice. - It does not run ads, sell your data, or build a profile of you. Privacy in plain language All your sessions, spots, photos, notes, ratings, and collections are stored on your device only. The app does not have a server. The app does not have accounts. If you uninstall, your data is gone with it. The app sends anonymous crash reports and basic usage analytics to Google Firebase so the developer can fix bugs and understand which features are used. Both are off-by-default-able from the app settings. The app uses Google Maps to render maps inside the app, which means Google sees the map area you are looking at — the same as in any maps-based app. The app requests background location access because a photography session needs to keep recording when your screen is off or your phone is in your pocket. It is only used while a session is actively running, and you always see a persistent notification while it is. When you stop the session, the app stops looking at your location, period. Made for - Photographers who keep a list of "places I want to come back to" but can't find half of them later. - Travelers who want a personal map of where their best shots came from. - Hobbyists who like the discipline of a deliberate walk with a camera. Made by an independent developer in Switzerland.

What's new

- Fixes a crash at launch that affected the Play Store version. - Auto-pause in transit: your walk pauses by itself on a tram, bus or train and resumes when you are back on foot. - Slow walks are measured correctly: no more distance lost at a photographer's pace. - Visited spots now say whether you stopped there or just passed by.
