Full description
ara is an offline Tamil and Sanskrit panchangam — a daily almanac that shows the auspicious and inauspicious times of the day and keeps several traditions of reading the day clearly separate, with no ads and no tracking. Check today's nakshatra, tithi and the day's good and bad periods at a glance, or open the full Tamil or Sanskrit panchangam for the complete picture. CHECKED AGAINST A PRINTED PANCHANGAM The astronomy is computed, not copied from a table — positions come from standard analytic algorithms, and the results are checked against print. Against a Shuddha Thiruganita Tamil panchangam for Panguni–Chithirai 2023, the Mesha Sankranti moment that begins the Tamil year matched to within 3 seconds, and tithi and nakshatra end-times to about a minute. Sidereal positions use the standard Lahiri ayanamsa. That accuracy is about the sky, not about fortune. It means the times are computed correctly — not that the traditional readings built on them are proven. WHAT'S INSIDE • Classic Tamil panchangam — Tamil month & date, tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, Rahu Kalam, Yamagandam, Gulikai, Gowri Nalla Neram, Abhijit muhurta, festivals and a muhurtham (ceremony-day) guide. • Classic Sanskrit panchangam — Sanskrit lunar month, paksha and samvatsara, with the same daily elements and Adhik maas (leap month). • The Tara method — a reconstructed family day-reading that marks each day and hour auspicious or inauspicious from the Moon's position, with nakshatra timings, Rahu days, full moons and chandrashtama. • Tara Bala — which birth stars the day favours, with no birth details needed. • Festivals & observances — Pongal, Tamil New Year, Deepavali, Navaratri, Ganesh Chaturthi, Maha Shivaratri, Karthigai Deepam and more, on both calendars. • Eclipses, new moon and full moon markers on every calendar. • Month calendar and day view, two home-screen widgets, and optional daily reminders. • A simple offline sidereal sky map. WHERE THE TARA METHOD COMES FROM The Tara method is not a general tradition but a specific one. It descends from the work of a physician and psychoanalyst who, after taking his medical degree in the 1950s, continued his studies at the University of London and spent a lifetime comparing the Western, Indian and Tamil astrological systems. He advised a small circle of families on the timing of their affairs, and what survives is the set of methods he wrote down — kept, and now reconstructed, by one of those families. Very few people have ever seen them. Tara offers them as an instrument for reflection, not prediction. KEY FEATURES • Daily panchangam with Rahu Kalam, Yamagandam, Gulikai and Nalla Neram good/bad times. • Nakshatra, tithi, yoga, karana and rising-sign (lagna) timetable. • Three calendars in one, kept separate — switch any time from the side menu. • Choose your default calendar (Tamil, Sanskrit, Tara method or Tara Bala). • English, हिन्दी and தமிழ், switchable inside the app. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Works entirely offline — the app has no internet access. It collects no personal data and no birth details; your chosen location stays on your device. No ads, no accounts, no tracking. IN THE RIGHT SPIRIT Tara presents traditional panchangam calculations, and its own Tara method, offered for cultural interest and personal reflection — not scientific predictions, and no substitute for your own judgement or for qualified professional advice. The muhurtham feature is a general guide; consult an astrologer for an actual muhurtham. The stars incline; they do not compel.

What's new

• Full moon and new moon now show when they begin, not only when they end. Both usually start the previous evening, and that start time was being hidden. • Full moon is now marked in red instead of amber, on the day view, the calendar and the month grid. • The Tamil and Sanskrit panchangam now show full-moon and new-moon timings with the tithi.
