Full description
PermitPilot turns your oversize load permit into voice-guided directions you can follow with your eyes on the road. Scan the permit. The app reads it, extracts your route, and speaks the turn-by-turn directions out loud as you drive. No typing addresses into a GPS. No pulling over to re-read fine print. No fumbling with paper at a scale. Built by a working OTR driver with oversize and pilot car experience, for the people who actually have to run these loads. WHAT PERMITPILOT DOES: - Scans oversize load permits with your phone camera and extracts the route - Reads turn-by-turn directions aloud so you can keep your eyes on mirrors and traffic - Flags route restrictions pulled directly from your permit - Convoy feature keeps pilot cars and the lead driver coordinated on the same route - Exports routes to InRoute and other GPX-compatible navigation apps and truck GPS units (Garmin dezl, Rand McNally, CoPilot Truck, Sygic Truck, etc.) - One-tap sharing of extracted route data WHAT PERMITPILOT IS NOT: - It is NOT a replacement for your truck GPS. It is a companion that handles the permit-specific routing your GPS doesn't understand. - It does NOT display a traditional moving map. It is voice-first, designed to be used without looking at the screen. - It is NOT for general trucking navigation. It is purpose-built for oversize load and pilot car work. WHO IT'S FOR: - Oversize load drivers running state-issued permit routes - Pilot car / P/EVO operators coordinating with lead drivers - Owner-operators who want permit scanning and routing without a monthly GPS subscription - Fleet drivers whose carriers don't provide permit-handling tools HOW IT WORKS WITH YOUR EXISTING SETUP: Most drivers use PermitPilot alongside their truck GPS. The GPS handles the general road navigation. PermitPilot handles the permit-specific routing, restrictions, and the voice readout that keeps you from having to re-read the paper. Export the route to InRoute or your Garmin for a visual map; use PermitPilot's voice for the permit-aware guidance. PRICING: - 7-day free trial, no commitment - $24.99/month for unlimited permit scans and routing - Load Passes for occasional oversize drivers: - 1 Load Pass: $9.99 - 3 Load Passes: $24.99 - 5 Load Passes: $34.99 (save $15 vs. buying singles) ABOUT THE DEVELOPER: PermitPilot is built and maintained by one person — a working OTR driver with real oversize and pilot car experience, who got tired of fumbling with paper permits in the cab and built the tool he wanted. Development happens between runs. Support requests get read and responded to by the same person who wrote the app. If something is broken, I want to hear about it before you cancel — reach out through the Play Store contact or in-app support. HONEST NOTE ON WHAT'S IMPROVING: This is an active, improving app, not a finished product. If the voice reader isn't working the way you need, if the OCR missed something on your permit, if you want a feature that isn't there yet — email me. Real feedback from working drivers is how this app gets better. The current roadmap includes a lightweight visual map view, expanded state-by-state restriction data, and continued improvements to voice clarity and speed. Try the 7-day trial. Scan a real permit from a real load. If it saves you time and headaches, keep it. If it doesn't fit how you work, cancel — but tell me why so I can fix it.

What's new

- New weak GPS warning: when GPS is too poor for steps to advance, the app says so, shows GPS WEAK — USE NEXT above the current direction, and repeats the step aloud. - Steps now advance by permit mileage when no map location is available. - "Route Verification Required" now appears when any step runs on mileage. Check those steps against your permit. - Removed map pins that pointed to the wrong spot. - North Dakota permits: each step shows the turn, then the miles after it.
