Full description
Theo Sidekick is a keyboard that listens. Tap the mic, say what you mean, and Theo types it where your cursor is, with the fillers gone, the grammar fixed and the tone matched to where you are typing. It works in any app that lets you pick a keyboard: Messages, Gmail, WhatsApp, Slack, Keep, Chrome and the rest. WHAT IT DOES • Types where you are. Switch to the Sidekick keyboard, tap the mic to talk, tap the check to finish. The words land at your cursor. • Cleans up as you speak. Fillers and false starts go, grammar and punctuation are fixed, and every word you meant stays. You choose how much: None, Light, Medium or High. • Writes in your tone. Formal, Casual, Very casual or Excited, or leave it on Auto and Theo picks by where you are typing: casual in messages and notes, formal in email and documents. • Knows your words. A personal dictionary for names and terms, Shorthand cues that expand into text you saved, and transforms that rewrite a finished dictation with an instruction of yours. • Understands 25 languages. English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Turkish, Russian, Ukrainian, Armenian, Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Indonesian and Thai. Leave the language unset and Theo detects it. • Hears a whisper. In a meeting or on a train, bring the phone close and keep your voice low. Theo hears it. • A typing keyboard too. Letters, numbers and symbols, suggestions, autocorrect and slide to type. Nothing you type is sent anywhere. • Notes that follow you. Dictate a note on your phone and it is waiting in Sidekick on your computer. • Insights. Words, pace, streaks and where your words went. START FROM ANYWHERE • Quick Settings. A Sidekick tile gets it ready in one tap. • App shortcut. Press and hold the Sidekick icon to start listening. THE SAME THEO AS YOUR COMPUTER Sidekick is part of OpenCharts. Sign in once and your dictionary, Shorthand, tones and notes come with you, and stay in step with Sidekick on your Mac and Windows PC. PRIVACY • Your dictation history and its recordings are kept on this phone only. They are never synced and never uploaded. Keep them, keep them for the day, or keep nothing. • The keyboard itself never connects to the internet. The microphone opens only while you dictate, and only a dictation you start is sent to OpenCharts to be transcribed and cleaned up. • The keyboard never sees your passwords: a password field opens with suggestions off, and its text is never sent anywhere. What the keyboard reads around your cursor goes to the Sidekick app on your phone, and to OpenCharts only with Context Awareness on, so the cleanup fits your sentence. • When you turn the keyboard on, Android shows its standard notice that a keyboard may collect what you type. That notice is Android's, for every keyboard. Sidekick collects nothing you type. • Your dictations are never used to train models. PLANS A free OpenCharts account includes 30 minutes of dictation every day. Sidekick needs an OpenCharts account and Android 8 or later. The keyboard is turned on in Settings, System, Keyboard, On-screen keyboard, and chosen from the keyboard icon at the bottom of the screen; the app walks you through it.
