Full description
Open the app and you're looking at a studio's sample board: one sample photo per document, each drawn at its true proportions with the size underneath. Pick one and you step into the studio for it: a white backdrop, that document's face outline, and a shutter button. Studio at Home fits your photo to the document's published size and rules, then gives you a print sheet and a file for online forms. WHAT'S DIFFERENT Rules per document, not just a crop size Head height, background color, glasses and expression rules change from one document to the next. The app holds them for 21 documents. Pick a different sample and the outline and the tips change with it. It won't swap a background the office forbids The Korean passport doesn't take photos with an edited background. For that document the app leaves the background alone, asks you to stand in front of a white wall, and tells you if the wall doesn't look plain. For documents that ask for unedited photos, such as the US passport and US visa, a note explains this and you can keep the original background. Elsewhere the background is replaced with white or another color the document takes. Checks after the shot Tilted head, closed eyes, a dark face, light that's too strong, the top of your head or your shoulders cut off: the app points out what's worth a retake. You can nudge position and size by hand, and the result shows the photo size and head height it measured, in mm. Files for the way you'll submit - Print sheet: several copies at actual size on a 4×6 in (10×15 cm) or L-size print. Choose ""Original size"", not ""Fit"", at the photo lab or kiosk. - Single photo file at 300 dpi. - Online file at the pixel size and file size the document sets. Available for the 13 documents that publish online rules, including the US passport, US visa and UK passport. 21 DOCUMENTS, 11 COUNTRIES AND REGIONS US passport and US visa (2×2 in) UK, Canada, Australia, India and Italy passports Schengen visa and China visa Japan: passport, My Number Card, driver's license, resume photo Taiwan passport and ID card, Hong Kong passport Korea: passport, resident ID, driver's license, resume photo (3×4 cm) Plus a common 35×45 mm passport size SHOOTING Use the front camera with a 3- or 10-second timer to shoot on your own, or flip to the rear camera and have someone take it. You can also start from a picture already in your library. PRICING Shooting, fitting and previewing are free; previews carry a mark. To get the files, pay for that one photo (retakes of it don't cost extra) or buy Lifetime unlimited once for every document. Lifetime unlimited restores on a new device with the same store account; single-photo purchases can't be restored. GOOD TO KNOW Photos are processed on your phone and there is no account. Photos follow each office's published size and head-size rules. The office you apply to decides whether to accept a photo, and rules can change, so check their guidance before you submit. If your document isn't listed and the size is close, try the common 35×45 mm passport photo.
