Octavox: Cloud PBX

Octavox is a virtual phone system for companies. The PBX runs in a data centre in Bulgaria, not on the office wall. This app is the employee's softphone to it: the work number lives on the handset the person already carries. The account comes from your company: an administrator on your team creates your extension and gives you the login details. There is no sign-up in the app, and it does not work without one. In plain words: what a cloud PBX is A virtual phone system, also called a cloud PBX or an IP PBX, does three things. First, the company has one number. A customer calls it and the call goes to whoever is free, then to the next colleague. Second, it holds several concurrent calls, so the next caller does not get an engaged tone. Third, it keeps a record of every call, in the history and in voicemail. Your private number stays private. The voice travels over the internet, not a phone cable: that is VoIP. Business VoIP is not app-to-app calling: calls go out to ordinary phone numbers. The line to the carrier is a SIP trunk. It carries as many concurrent calls as the company has contracted. One number can ring on several handsets, with no second SIM and no equipment in the office. What the app does • Outgoing and incoming calls through the phone system, with the company number • Incoming-call alerts, also on the lock screen • Hold, mute, speakerphone, call notes • Transfer to a colleague, directly or after announcing the call • Moving a call to another of your devices (Call Flip) • Call park: the call waits in the phone system until a free colleague picks it up • Company directory and dialling by short extension • Call history, voicemail and recordings, when recording is enabled • Internal chat with colleagues • Conference calls, your status (available, busy), dark and light theme What the company gets • An office phone system used as a service, with no server of its own • One company number for customers and short extensions for colleagues • Several concurrent calls on the same number, as many channels as contracted • Lines from Bulgarian carriers (SIP trunk) into the phone system • Field teams work from their business numbers, without a second handset • When someone leaves, the number, history and voicemail stay with the company Getting started 1. Ask your administrator for the login details. 2. Scan the QR code, or enter user name, password and server address. 3. Allow notifications and the microphone. Without them calls will not ring. 4. Exclude the app from battery saving, so it rings on a locked screen. 5. Call a colleague on their extension to check the audio. Good to know • The app is free. The Octavox service is bought separately, under a contract. • The app interface is in English only. Our support replies in Bulgarian. • The app is for voice calls and chat. • Call recording works only if the administrator enables it; the company must tell the people on the call. • An internet connection is required — mobile data or Wi-Fi. On a weak signal the audio breaks up. • The app does not replace your mobile operator and is not a route to emergency services. In an emergency use the mobile network. • Alerts while the app is closed need Google's notification service. • The app needs the microphone, notifications and the camera (for the QR code). Contacts are optional, for a name on a call, and are not uploaded. • Under data-protection law your company is the controller; we are the processor.
