Full description
USE AFFORDABLE USB OBD ADAPTERS WITH ANDROID HEAD UNITS OBD PortLink is made for Android radio and head units that run OBD apps but cannot use Bluetooth OBD adapters—or where Bluetooth is unavailable or unreliable. Connect a compatible, inexpensive wired USB ELM327 adapter and OBD PortLink turns it into the local Wi-Fi/TCP-style connection that supported OBD apps understand. Instead of hunting for an expensive or hard-to-find FTDI-only adapter, you can use widely available USB serial hardware based on CH340/CH341, CP210x, PL2303, or FTDI chipsets. Select the adapter, start the bridge, and connect your OBD app to 127.0.0.1. For supported combinations, the goal is simple: plug it in, configure the local endpoint once, and it just works. HOW IT WORKS • Opens the wired USB ELM327 adapter directly from the Android head unit • Automatically detects a reliable serial baud rate • Forwards raw ELM traffic to 127.0.0.1 on the same Android device • Keeps the connection local; it is not exposed to the Wi-Fi network • Detects supported installed OBD clients and provides setup guidance, copy-and-open shortcuts, and optional auto-launch • Includes local connection, traffic, and sensor-activity diagnostics • Contains no ads, analytics, user accounts, or developer-operated servers PERFORMANCE AND HARDWARE FLEXIBILITY A direct wired USB connection can provide faster, more responsive OBD polling than many Bluetooth setups. OBD PortLink automatically negotiates the fastest reliable serial rate supported by the adapter, including high-speed operation up to 500000 baud when the hardware supports it. Actual performance depends on the adapter, vehicle, Android head unit, and OBD client. PortLink keeps USB hardware support separate from your OBD client. Support for additional compatible USB serial hardware can be added in future PortLink updates without requiring users to replace the OBD software and dashboard setup they already use. TRY EVERYTHING BEFORE BUYING Every feature is available for 30 days. Use that time to verify your Android head unit, USB adapter, ELM327 interface, vehicle, and chosen OBD client. Continued use requires a $7.99 one-time OBD PortLink v1 unlock. There is no subscription. Future major versions may be sold separately. COMPATIBILITY AND SUPPORT Your Android head unit must support USB host mode, and your OBD client must support a custom local Wi-Fi/TCP ELM endpoint. Compatibility has been tested with Torque Pro. Individual setup assistance and technical troubleshooting are not included. Future compatibility with Android releases, devices, adapters, vehicles, or third-party apps is not guaranteed. THIRD-PARTY NOTICE Third-party product names identify compatibility targets only. OBD PortLink is independently developed and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the developers of Torque Pro or any other third-party OBD app. Use vehicle diagnostic software responsibly and do not interact with it while driving.
