Rota

Rota turns volunteer scheduling into a simple, tactile experience that feels just like arranging magnetic cards on a glossy fridge whiteboard. Every shift you create lives locally on your device, so your sign-up board is always ready without needing accounts or internet access. The Home tab welcomes you with a playful dashboard where total created shifts and open slots appear as colorful plastic magnetic letters, giving you an instant overview. Right below those counters, you can glance at the next three upcoming open shifts in compact card previews, and a quick-add button jumps you straight to posting a new slot. Adding a shift is effortless on the dedicated Add tab: give it a title, pick a date from the date picker, optionally type a time window, and tap Post Shift to see it appear on the whiteboard instantly. The Open tab keeps all unfilled shifts in one scrollable list, with each card styled as a tilted rectangle magnet rimmed in bright lime green and labeled in handwritten marker font. When a volunteer claims a slot, a long press on the card brings up a confirmation dialog, and marking it filled moves the shift to the Filled tab with muted gray borders and a flat, settled look. If plans change, you can swipe an open shift left to delete it entirely, giving you full control over the board’s content. The Filled tab collects every claimed slot in a clean, searchable list, so you can quickly filter by task name and see who has stepped up. Both the Open and Filled tabs include a search bar that filters shifts by title, helping you jump to a specific task even when your board is busy. All your data stays in a single local table, keeping everything private, fast, and available offline. The bottom tab bar itself mirrors the tactile theme, with four distinctive magnet shapes stuck to a metal rail, and the active tab lifts slightly off the surface to show where you are. Rota is designed for community center coordinators, event organizers, and local groups who want a visual, no-fuss way to post helper shifts and track sign-ups right from one device.
