Full description
[PLEASE READ FIRST] This app converts fuel-economy units and nothing else. It does not keep a log of what you put in the tank, and it does not measure how far you drove. ────────── 🚗 Fuel Economy Converter — the same car, a different number in each country A car sold as "30 mpg" in America is written as "36.0285 mpg" in Britain. It is the same car. There are two gallons. US gallon: 3.785411784 L Imperial gallon: 4.54609 L The imperial gallon is 1.20095 times larger, so it carries you further. That is why the same car scores higher in Britain. Read it the other way — one mpg figure, two gallons — and the imperial reading is the smaller km/L, as the mpg tab shows. ■ Four tabs ▪ From km/L … the figure used in Japan. Gives L/100km and mpg, both gallons ▪ From L/100km … the figure used in Europe. Gives km/L and mpg, both gallons ▪ From mpg … shows US gallons and imperial gallons side by side ▪ Fuel needed … distance and economy in, litres out ■ The mpg tab does not ask you which gallon If you already know whether your mpg figure is US or imperial, you are past the part that trips people up. Type the number and both readings appear. 30 mpg -> 12.75431 km/L on US gallons 30 mpg -> 10.62019 km/L on imperial gallons ■ One division moves you either way L/100km is simply 100 ÷ km/L. At 20 km/L that is 100 ÷ 20 = 5 L/100km. At 25 km/L it is 4 L/100km. Ten is the only number that reads the same either way. ■ Some figures are better large, some better small km/L and mpg are better when larger. L/100km is better when smaller. That is where an imported spec sheet trips people up. ■ Nothing here is an approximation One mile is 1.609344 km. One US gallon is 3.785411784 L. Both were fixed exactly when several countries agreed on common standards in 1959. The imperial gallon was set at 4.54609 L later, and just as exactly. ■ What the screen holds ▪ One or two input fields per tab. No settings screen ▪ Common values are one tap away ▪ The last five entries stay in the history ▪ A full list on each single-value tab, plus nine short notes ▪ Japanese and English, chosen by your device language ■ What this app does not do ▪ It does not log fuel or distance ▪ It shows no prices — they differ by country and change every week ▪ It holds no data about particular cars Once you have the litres, multiply by whatever fuel costs where you are. No account is needed. The calculation happens on your device, and nothing you type is sent out. ────────── For reading an imported spec sheet, following a review from another country, or working out how your own car compares.
