Full description
Decide the order. Decide who does it. Hand out the prizes. Japanese Lots collects four ways of drawing lots used in Japan into a single app. No paper, no pens. One phone, passed around. > FOUR KINDS OF LOTS [Amidakuji / Ghost Leg] The classic ladder of vertical and horizontal lines. Tap a number on top and a vermilion trail runs down the lines to your result. [Paper Slips] Folded triangular slips laid out in a row. Pick the one you like and open it. Choosing it yourself makes it the easy-going one. [Garapon Drum] The spinning drum from Japanese raffles. Turn the handle and one ball rolls out. Gold, silver, red, blue and on down: the colour tells you the rank at a glance. Every ball that comes out stays in the tray in the order it was drawn. [Stick Lots] Pull one stick out of the holder and the tip that was hidden inside comes into view. Set the winners to the number of people and it becomes a running order on its own. > ONE SETUP, EVERY LOT - Number of people (2-12) - Number of winners - How prizes read (Win / Lose, or ranked 1st, 2nd, ...) These three are shared across all four lots. Decide six people and two winners with the amidakuji, switch to the drum, and nothing has to be entered again. A draw in progress is saved too, so you can close the app and pick up where you left off. > RESULTS STAY HIDDEN In all four lots, only the ones that have been drawn are revealed. Even the bottom row of the amidakuji starts as "?". If everything were visible up front you could count ahead and dodge a loss, so every lot keeps its results face down the same way. > GOOD FOR - Handing out prizes at a party (the drum, from first place down) - Picking an organiser, a duty or a seating order (stick lots with ranks give everyone a place) - Playing with children (the paper slips are just a choice, so small children get it) - Splitting up chores and errands (the amidakuji works from two people) > DETAILS - Japanese and English - Works offline; the network is used only to show ads - No account, no sign-up - The only things stored on the device are the draw in progress and your language
