Full description
You want your video apps. You just don't want the short videos. Fuin closes a short-video screen the moment it opens. Regular videos, search and messages keep working as before. ■ What it does ・Automatic blocking: when a short-video screen opens, you are taken back to the previous screen ・Daily time limit: allow 5 to 180 minutes a day, in 5-minute steps. After that, it blocks for the rest of the day ・Per-app settings: choose to block, to limit, or to leave each app alone ・A short notice when it blocks: one sentence from published research on short-video use and attention or sleep, with its source ・Today's numbers: how many times it blocked, and how long you watched ■ Who it is for ・You want to stop, but you keep opening them. You cannot stop scrolling on your own ・Your study or work time disappears into scrolling ・Deleting the whole app is not an option. You still need messages and regular videos ・You are worried about phone addiction and want to cut your screen time ■ Privacy ・No network access. The app does not even hold the internet permission ・No ads, no account, no analytics ・Settings and records are stored only on your device ■ Use of the Accessibility API (AccessibilityService) This app uses Android's accessibility service to tell whether the screen you opened is a short-video screen, and to close it. It only looks at the kind and layout of the elements on the screen. It does not read text, images, messages, what you type, or account information. Nothing is sent off your device. The app shows this explanation on first launch and asks for your consent before taking you to the settings screen. ■ Supported apps ・YouTube (Shorts) ・Instagram (Reels) ・TikTok (video feed) After an update of one of these apps, blocking may stop working for a while. ■ How time is counted The daily limit counts only the stretches in which the screen was confirmed to be a short-video screen. Moments such as the middle of a swipe are not counted, so you may be able to watch slightly longer than the limit you set. ■ Notes ・Battery-saving settings on some devices can stop the blocking. If that happens, the app notifies you ・This is an independent app and is not affiliated with the providers of these video services
