Unter dem Leitgedanken „Vergangenheit erkunden – Geschichte konstruieren“ werden Bildungs- und Erlebnistouren, die einen inhaltlichen Bezug zu aktuellen Lehrplänen haben, zum Download auf mobile Endgeräte bereitgestellt. Die GPS-geführten Erkundungstouren sind nach modernen didaktischen Gesichtspunkten konzipiert und überwiegend problem- und kompetenzorientiert. Educaching Geschichte in der angebotenen Form erweitert die Möglichkeiten außerschulischen Lernens, befördert geschichts-kulturelle Kompetenz an authentischen Orten und schafft Verständnis für den historischen Wandel. Die Aufgabenstellungen ermöglichen schulform- bzw. altersspezifische Differenzierungen. Nach dem Download auf Handys oder Tablets suchen die Teilnehmenden, idealer Weise in Kleingruppen, verschiedene Stationen auf (POIs), entdecken regional- oder nationalgeschichtlich Bedeutsames und lösen auf dem Tablet befindliche Erkundungsaufgaben. Die auf dem Lernpfad erarbeiteten Ergebnisse können am Ende der Tour mit integrierten Lösungen verglichen werden. Auch spätere Auswertungen in der Großgruppe lassen sich organisieren. Unterbrechungen der vierstündigen Touren sind ebenso möglich wie nachträgliches Erkunden. Die Touren haben eine Gültigkeitsdauer von einem Jahr und können auch von anderen Personen der gleichen Einrichtung genutzt werden.
