Full description
MaxBars sets your phone's preferred network type in one tap: 5G + 4G, 4G only (LTE only) or Auto. Use it when your phone keeps jumping between 5G and LTE, or slips to an older network. MaxBars can't add signal, make a weak network stronger, or give you 5G where your phone, plan or carrier doesn't offer it. It only chooses which networks your phone may use. How switching works (Accessibility) Android doesn't let apps change the network type directly, so MaxBars opens your phone's built-in Phone information menu (a testing menu, also opened by dialing *#*#4636#*#*) and selects the mode for you with an Accessibility service you turn on. A Switching screen covers the menu while it works. The service works only for that menu, and acts only when you choose a mode or run a mode test, or when a rule you turned on (Keep My Mode, Game Mode) sets or restores your mode. It reads only the menu's SIM and mode settings, and which windows are open. Nothing is shared. Prefer to do it yourself? MaxBars shows you the three taps. Good to know • Some phone makers and carriers hide or lock this menu (on some phones and work profiles); MaxBars then shows you your phone's own network setting. • In 4G only and 5G + 4G, calls and texts use VoLTE (HD Voice). If they stop working, choose Auto. • 3G only and 2G only can leave you without signal where those networks are off, and 5G only needs standalone 5G. MaxBars warns you first. • Some phones reset the mode after a restart or a carrier update. • Auto puts your phone's own setting back at any time. • Needs Android 8.0 or newer and a SIM. Network • 5G + 4G, 4G only and Auto in one tap, plus every mode your phone's menu offers • Dual SIM, Quick Settings tile, widget and shortcuts • Keep My Mode: a notification when your phone leaves your mode; one tap puts it back • Speed test on Wi-Fi or mobile data (a light test uses about 10 MB) • Best Mode Here: tests Auto, 4G only and 5G + 4G on mobile data where you are and shows which was fastest (one run included) • Signal finder: live dBm, a 60-second graph and optional beeps Wi-Fi • Devices: what's on the Wi-Fi you're connected to, with the names devices give themselves • Check-up: signal, band and how fast your router and the internet answer, with tips • Wi-Fi QR codes: scan one (camera or picture) to see the password or join (Android 11+), or make one for guests MaxBars Pro (subscription or one-time purchase) • Keep My Mode can put your mode back by itself after a restart or a drop (turn on Fix It Automatically) • Game Mode: holds 4G only (or 5G + 4G) while a game you picked is open on mobile data, then puts your usual mode back • Data Guard (Android 10+): data used per app, with alerts at 80% and 100% of your plan • Wi-Fi Guard: a notification when a new device joins a Wi-Fi you chose to watch (about every 30 minutes) • Status bar icon: network type or live speed, plus today's data use • Make My Phone First: shows where your router's own app or page can put your phone first; MaxBars never changes your router • Device names, Wi-Fi channel check, more mode tests and your last 50 speed tests Subscriptions renew until you cancel them in Google Play. Permissions are asked only when a feature needs them: Accessibility (switching), Usage access (Data Guard, Game Mode), camera (QR codes), Nearby devices or, on Android 13 and older, location (counting nearby Wi-Fi networks; never stored or sent) and notifications. Privacy: no account, no ads, no analytics. What MaxBars saves stays on your phone. It goes online for the tests you start (speed tests and Wi-Fi check-ups use Cloudflare's servers, which see your IP address like any website) and to Google Play to check MaxBars Pro and handle purchases. Device scans stay on your own Wi-Fi. MaxBars is not affiliated with Cloudflare or any carrier or phone maker. Wi-Fi is a registered trademark of Wi-Fi Alliance; LTE is a trademark of ETSI.
