MovieBuds: Watch Together

Watch films with the people you miss. MovieBuds keeps everyone's screen on the same second. You press play, your friends see it play. You pause to grab a drink, their film pauses too. Nobody has to count down over the phone any more. WATCH ALMOST ANYTHING • YouTube — search it inside the app and press Next together • Any website — open a site and everyone follows you to it • Google Drive — play a film from your own Drive; your friends need no Google account • Videos on your phone — as long as everyone has the same file TALK WHILE YOU WATCH Turn on your microphone and just talk, the way you would on the sofa. Your microphone being off never stops you hearing anybody else. Prefer to keep quiet? There is a chat box, and you can swipe any message to reply to it. JOINING TAKES ONE STEP Start watching and MovieBuds gives you a five digit code. Send it to your friends. They type it in. That is the whole thing — no account, no sign up, no email. HOW COINS WORK One coin gives you an hour of watching together. New phones start with three coins, and you can earn more any time by watching a short video. Nothing is ever charged to you, and there is nothing to buy. WHAT WILL NOT WORK Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+ lock their films so that only their own apps may play them. No app can get around that, and MovieBuds will tell you so plainly rather than failing silently. A TIP Use headphones. Without them your microphone picks up the film and your friends hear an echo. Made for anyone in a long distance relationship, a family spread across countries, or a group of friends who never manage to be in the same room.
