Retracee

Retracee is a photo hunt. Someone stood somewhere in your city, took a picture, and left it there for you to find. Your job is to work out where they were standing and get your camera back to the same place. Not roughly. The same angle. When you get close, the original photo appears over your viewfinder and a ring starts filling as you line things up. Move a bit left. Crouch down. Step back. Try again. When the ring fills, you've got it, and the badge is yours. It sounds easy until you're stood in front of a building trying to work out whether they were on this side of the street or the other one. Every badge is a real place, so you have to actually go there. No capturing things from your sofa. That's sort of the whole point. You collect badges and earn points, and the better you line the shot up, the more you get. Points turn into levels, levels turn into hats and outfits for your avatar, and there's a weekly ranking where whoever finishes first gets a crown they keep for good. Some badges belong to collections. Finish one and you get something you won't find anywhere else. The Bordeaux set pays out a cannelé hat, which is exactly as silly as it sounds. You don't need an account to start. Open it, try a collection, see if you like it. If you want to keep what you found, make an account afterwards and it all follows you over. Know a good spot yourself? Submit it. If people like it, it becomes a badge, and you earn a little every time somebody else tracks it down. Best played wandering around somewhere you thought you already knew.
