文化的重鎮　知識的寶庫 《明報月刊》是一本屬於全球華人的泛文化知識雜誌，由資深報人、著名小說家查良鏞（金庸）先生於一九六六年創辦，至今已創刊五十周年，乃海內外歷史最悠久的文化刊物。《明報月刊》創刊以來，向以「文化的重鎮，知識的寶庫」為辦刊宗旨，內容涵蓋社會性、知識性、文化性，一直廣受海內外華人和知識界的愛戴及支持。 二千年度諾貝爾文學獎得主高行健先生曾在本刊創刊三十五周年酒會上分享他與《明報月刊》的感情：「《明報月刊》現在不僅是一個香港的文化刊物，也是香港一個少有的持之以恆的一個大型文化刊物，也可以說是全世界海外華人文化人和學者在文學藝術上交流的園地。」 《明報月刊》確實不僅屬於香港，而且屬於全世界的華人。《明報月刊》的作者隊伍幾乎包羅了海內外各類文化精英，她的文章經常為海內外刊物和研究機構翻譯和轉載，對海內外文化界、知識界及研究者均具有參考價值，是一座溝通海內外華文文化的橋樑。 《明報月刊》得以長期生存與發展，完全是本身文化性格使然。《明報月刊》歷年來堅持中性立場和獨立思想，不為政治潮流所左右，又堅守心靈原則與學術精神，不為商業潮流所左右。世事浮沉，《明報月刊》總是走自己的路，並得到文化先進的嘉許。美國普林斯頓大學榮休教授余英時先生便給予《明報月刊》熱情的肯定，他說：「自由、獨立、中國情味大概是我對《明報月刊》最欣賞的幾點特色。《明報月刊》真正做到了雅俗共賞的境地。文化社會事業與個人不同，所以《明報月刊》可以日新月異，而且也一直與世俱新。」 繼二零零一年出版劃時代的《明報月刊合訂本電子版》（1966-2000年），二零零三年推出《明報月刊》網上版，《明報月刊》跨平台網站也適時於五十周年推出，繼續與讀者一同見證二十一世紀的時代風雲，與世俱新。
