Age & Date: Lunar Birthday

A lunar birthday falls on a different solar date every year. Save it once and this app works out the new date for you, every year, on your phone. No ads, no account, no internet permission. Age & Date is an age calculator and birthday tracker for birthdays that refuse to sit still. Age and Date Calculations Pick a date of birth and three ages appear side by side: international age, Korean age and year age. Below them you get the total number of days you have been alive, the date of the next birthday, and the number of days left until it. For anyone born on 29 February, the birthday is counted as 28 February in common years. The app states that rule on screen instead of leaving you to guess where the number came from. Lunar Birthdays That Recalculate Themselves This is the part the app was built for. A lunar birthday has no fixed solar date. It moves by roughly ten days a year, which is why a plain yearly repeat in an ordinary calendar is already wrong by the second year. Enter the lunar date once. The app converts it for the current year using the Korean lunar calendar published by the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI), and it goes on doing that every year without you touching anything. The two awkward cases are handled and explained on screen rather than quietly rounded away: • Born in a leap month, in a year that has no such leap month: the regular month is used. • Born on the 30th, in a year where that lunar month runs only 29 days: the 29th is used. Work Backwards From a Birthday You Celebrated A registered birth date is often days or weeks off the real one, and in many families only the lunar date was ever remembered. Pick a solar date on which the birthday was actually celebrated, and the app works backwards to fill in the lunar date for you. Reminders and a Home Screen Widget • Reminders 7 days before, 1 day before and on the day. Each one is optional. • Dates are recalculated daily, so lunar birthdays stay correct indefinitely. • A home screen widget shows the next birthday and its countdown. Birthdays in Your Own Calendar A lunar birthday cannot be written as a yearly repeat rule, so the app calculates ten years ahead and adds them to your device calendar as separate events. Calendar access is optional: skip it and every calculation, reminder and widget still works. Everyone in One List Save as many birthdays as you like. Solar and lunar entries share a single list sorted by whichever comes next, so one glance tells you who is coming up. Private Because It Has Nowhere to Send Anything The app does not declare the internet permission, and you can check that yourself under App permissions on this page. There are no ads, no accounts, no analytics and no data collection. Birthdays are kept in the app's own storage on your phone. Calendar and notification access are both optional, and are requested only when you use those features. Good to Know • Lunar dates are supported from 1900 to 2050, the range of the KASI table built into the app. • Korean lunar dates can differ by a day from the Chinese lunar calendar, because the two are computed for different time zones. For that reason the lunar features are not offered in the Simplified Chinese version of the app. • Available in English, Korean, Japanese and Simplified Chinese.
