Full description
A book about exactly your thing, at exactly your level — written on your phone one chapter at a time, and rewritten in place when a passage does not land. MetaBook is an AI book generator for people who learn from long-form reading. Tell it what you want a book about. It interviews you — what you already know, what you want out of it, how you like to be taught — proposes a chapter outline you can rename, reorder and cut, and then writes the chapters on demand. Non-fiction only: learning, not stories. THE PART THAT MATTERS Any AI can draft a chapter. What MetaBook does differently is what happens while you read. Hold any passage and choose: • Simplify — a plainer version, in place • Expand — the same ground, treated properly • Example — a worked case for the idea • Ask — a question about the passage, with the answer kept on the page • Illustrate — a picture of the thing it describes, written into the chapter The rest of the chapter stays exactly as it was. Every rewrite is versioned, and Undo takes it back. WHAT IT COSTS, BEFORE YOU PRESS No subscription. MetaBook uses your own OpenRouter API key, so model calls go straight from your phone to the provider and are billed to you at cost. Every action shows its estimated price before it runs, every call is recorded in a ledger, and you set daily and per-book limits. An eight-chapter book in English typically costs around 25¢ to write. READ IT LIKE A BOOK A proper reader: book typefaces, adjustable type size, paper and night themes, bookmarks, a chapter index, a remembered reading position, and listening with your device's own voice — controls on the lock screen, and it keeps going when you leave the app. Formulas render properly; illustrations sit in the text. WRITE ONE FOR SOMEBODY ELSE The person a book is written for does not have to be you. Answer the interview about your father, a colleague or a twelve-year-old, and MetaBook writes it at their level, on their terms — then export it and hand it over. YOURS TO KEEP Export any book as EPUB, FB2 or Markdown for any e-reader. Back up and restore across devices. No account, no server of ours, no analytics — your text and your key go nowhere but the provider. TEN LANGUAGES Write and read books in English, Russian, German, Spanish, French, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish or Vietnamese. WHAT YOU NEED An OpenRouter API key (openrouter.ai). Setting one up takes a couple of minutes, and the app walks you through it. MetaBook itself is a one-time purchase; model usage is paid to OpenRouter separately, at the provider's own prices. Every chapter is written by a large language model. Treat a MetaBook book as a starting point, not a source.
