Mesh Safety is a neighbourhood watch app for South African communities. Press once. The people near you find out. WHAT IT DOES • One press raises an alert with your location, and the members of your watch who are nearby are notified straight away. • An SOS reaches everyone close enough to help, whether or not they are in your watch. A boundary on a map should not stop a neighbour fifty metres away. • The emergency contacts you nominate get a text message with your position and a map link. • You can see who has responded and how far away they are, so you know whether help is actually coming — not just that a message was sent. • Coordinators run their watch: admitting members, seeing where cover is thin, and closing alerts that are over. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO Mesh Safety does not contact the police, an ambulance, or any emergency service. It shows you their numbers so you can call them yourself. It is a way of reaching your neighbours quickly — it is not a replacement for emergency services, an armed response contract, or a monitored alarm. It also does not track you. The app keeps only your most recent position, never a history of where you have been, and the map your coordinator sees shows how well an area is covered — never where any individual person is. PRIVACY Built for POPIA from the beginning, not retrofitted. • Sign in with your phone number and a one-time code. There is no password. • Only your latest position is stored. It is overwritten each time, and erased the moment you delete your account. • Photographs can be attached to emergency alerts only — never to a crime or suspicious-activity report. Report a crime to the police; this app is not built to hold that kind of record. • Nothing is sold, nothing is advertised, and there is no analytics or tracking software in the app at all. • Delete your account from inside the app, and everything identifying you goes with it.
