MelonSense

Most watermelon advice is folklore. MelonSense measures instead. HOW IT WORKS • Photograph the blossom end — the small scar opposite the stem. Required. • Knock the melon 5–8 times and let MelonSense listen. Optional, and worth it: the reading gets sharper. • Get a 1–10 sweetness rating, a Brix estimate, and a cutout showing exactly what was analyzed. A photo and a knock tell you different things, so MelonSense uses both when it can. It measures how noisy the recording is and weighs the knock accordingly — counting it for less in a busy grocery aisle, and setting it aside altogether when the store is too loud to trust. Noise costs you some precision, never the reading. WHAT YOU GET • A free scan every day • Frenzy: a few minutes of unlimited scans, for when you're working through a whole bin • Rewards for rating a melon after you eat it • No ads, ever WHERE IT COMES FROM MelonSense began with one farmer's decades of picking watermelons by hand: the careful look, the knock, the years of practice. That judgment became a model, calibrated against real melons cut open and measured with a refractometer — the instrument labs use to test sugar content. Every prediction is checked against melons held back from training, so accuracy is measured on fruit the model has never seen. Nobody can see inside an uncut watermelon. MelonSense gives you a well-informed estimate, not a guarantee, and would rather say so than promise certainty it doesn't have. Every photo, knock, and taste rating you share makes the next reading better. English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, and Korean. MelonSense never sells your data and never uses it for advertising. Full details in the in-app privacy policy.
