Elya helps you talk like a local. Real stories, real dialects, and AI tutors and friends who talk back, without the pressure. Most language apps teach you how to pass a multiple-choice quiz. Elya teaches you how to talk to real people. No streaks. No red badges. No leaderboards. Open Elya when you want to practise, leave it for a few days if life gets busy, and come back when you are ready. STORIES WRITTEN BY PEOPLE, NOT BY AI Elya's Italian lessons are written by hand, from beginner (A1) to mastery (C2). Some come from friends and writers who lived them. Bargain at an open-air market in Naples, order morning pastries in Rimini, walk through Milan, Rome, Florence, Venice and the Dolomites. Each lesson gives you a story, a real dialogue, the words to use and the words to recognise, idioms with notes on how to use them, culture notes and grammar. You read above your level and speak at your level, which is how people really learn. THE ITALIAN PEOPLE REALLY SPEAK Textbooks teach one Italian. In Italy you hear many. Elya's dialect cards cover Sicilian, Neapolitan, Roman, Tuscan, Piedmontese, Ligurian and Romagnolo: the main rules, everyday expressions and, where needed, the phrases to understand but never say. Italian is where the hand-written library starts. More languages are on the way. REAL CONVERSATIONS, NOT FLASHCARDS Practise with twelve tutors, one for each language. Maurice for French, Mei for Chinese, Mariana for Portuguese, and so on. Each has their own personality and their own way of teaching. Speak by voice or type if you prefer. Hands-free mode lets you talk and listen without touching the screen, so you can practise while walking, cooking or travelling. IMPROVE YOUR PRONUNCIATION Repeat a phrase and get clear feedback on how you sounded, word by word, so you can see which one let you down. Try again as many times as you like. Nothing is marked wrong and nothing is scored against you. COMPANIONS TO TALK TO Elya also has around twenty-five companions with different personalities. Many have a real sense of humour, so conversations stay light, surprising and fun. Talk about your day, ask what they think, send a photo or a voice note, or just chat. They remember previous chats, so you never have to reintroduce yourself. Companions are not tutors. They do not correct every sentence or give you homework. They are there to talk, share ideas and keep you company. READ AND LISTEN AT THE SAME TIME Read classic books in different languages and hear them read aloud. Each word lights up as it is spoken, so you can follow a real book long before you could manage it alone. Tap any word to see what it means, and save it for later. Set the page up the way you read best: text size, typeface (OpenDyslexic included) and full screen, with nothing on it but the words. Share a photo or a short video and talk about what you see. Talk about news, history, books or everyday life. Not every chat has to be a lesson. Not something that pushes you through a course, but something that travels with you. YOUR PRIVACY MATTERS Your messages are never sold. Your conversations are not used to train AI models. You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app. GOOD TO KNOW Elya's tutors and companions are AI characters, not real people.
