Full description
deadair is an AI radio station you run yourself. It picks the records, writes what the presenter says between them, speaks it, and streams the result. This app is how you listen to one. You need a station to point it at. deadair is free, open-source server software: run it on a home server, a NAS or a rented machine, then give this app the address its console loads from. The app does not come with a station of its own. How to run one is at deadair.radio. LISTENING • Plays in the background, with lock-screen, notification and Bluetooth controls • Press play on a car stereo or a headset and the station starts, even when the app is closed • Shows what is on air, its artwork, and how far through the record it is • MP3 always, plus HLS, AAC, Opus or FLAC when the station publishes them. HLS is the one for a phone that moves between wifi and mobile data • Works over plain HTTP on a home network, or anywhere behind HTTPS • No account needed to listen FOR THE PERSON WHO RUNS THE STATION Sign in with the station's operator account and the phone becomes a remote: • Skip, stop and start the station, and choose what puts it on air • See what is coming up, reorder or drop it, and put a playlist or a chart on air • Read what the station has played and what the presenter said between the records, and rate both • Change who presents the show, or plan the next one PRIVATE BY DESIGN No ads, no analytics, no crash reporting, no account with us. The app talks only to the station you point it at.

What's new

The first public release. Listen to your own deadair station in the background, from the lock screen, a headset or a car stereo. Sign in as the station's operator and the phone becomes its remote: skip, stop and start, the running order, what it played and what the presenter said.
