Amity: Screen Time Control

Amity is a screen time app and app blocker that helps you block apps and websites, cut your screen time, and finally focus — without going cold turkey. Most screen time apps either nag you or lock you out. Amity is different. It adds a calm, mindful pause before a blocked app opens, and gives you a daily allowance that only counts the minutes you actually use. Re-lock early and the rest of your time stays yours. HOW AMITY BLOCKS — ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE & VPN PERMISSIONS Amity uses Android's AccessibilityService API to deliver its core feature: blocking the apps you choose. The service detects which app has just come to the foreground, using its package name, and checks it against your own blocking rules; normally, Amity then shows your blocking screen over that app. If Android or your device manufacturer prevents that screen from appearing, Amity may use Android's system Home action to move you out of the specific app you selected that is blocked at that moment — nothing else. Amity does not read or store screen content, anything you type, your messages, or your passwords, and it does not click, gesture, or navigate inside other apps; the foreground app identity used for blocking stays on your device and is never transmitted. You can turn the service off at any time in Android Settings > Accessibility, and Amity never stops you from doing that or from uninstalling the app. Website blocking uses Android's VpnService API to run a local DNS filter on your device. Amity is not a VPN provider and does not route your general internet traffic through Amity or any remote VPN server. Amity does not inspect page content, store your browsing history, sell it, or use it for advertising. The domain name you request is compared on your device with your own blocklist. Blocked domains are stopped locally and never leave your device. Domain names that aren't blocked are sent over encrypted DNS-over-HTTPS to the public Cloudflare resolver, with Google Public DNS and Quad9 as fallback resolvers, so allowed sites can keep working. Website filtering is optional, starts only after you grant Android's VPN consent, and can be switched off at any time in Amity or in Android Settings.
