Lokt is a commitment-contract app. You put your own money behind a goal, prove you did it inside a time window, and get every rupee back. It is for the thing you already know you should be doing and keep not doing. Waking up at 7. Getting to the gym. Cooking instead of ordering. Lokt does not nag you. It just makes the promise cost something. HOW A STAKE WORKS 1. Pick what you are promising. Wake up at 7:00 tomorrow. Gym by 7:30 PM. Whatever it is, in your own words. 2. Set the time. You choose when it has to happen, and the proof window opens around it. 3. Choose how much is on it. Anywhere from ₹20 to ₹5,000, set fresh every time. Enough to sting on a cold morning, never enough to hurt. 4. Choose the charity. You pick it from the list before you start, not after you miss. 5. Lock it in. The money is held from that moment until the window closes. 6. Prove it. When the window opens, take one photo in the app. Camera only — nothing old from your gallery. WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR MONEY There are three outcomes and these are all of them. You prove it in time. Every rupee comes back. Lokt takes nothing at all. The refund starts as soon as your proof clears and lands in your UPI within 24 hours. You cancel before the window opens. Full refund, no questions, no mark against you. Nothing was ever at risk. You miss it. 90% goes to the charity you picked. Lokt keeps 10% to run the service. On a ₹500 stake that is ₹450 to your charity and ₹50 to Lokt. You get a receipt either way. That 10% is the only money Lokt ever makes, and it is only charged when you miss. ITEM CHECK: PROOF YOU ACTUALLY GOT UP A selfie proves your eyes opened. It does not prove you left the bed. So on goals like waking up, you can turn on item check. You register things around your home once — the RO water filter, the shoe rack, the meter box, the milk packets at the door. When your window opens, Lokt names one of them at random, and that is the one you have to go photograph. You do not know which one until the window opens. It could be across the house, out the front door, or up on the terrace. There is no version of that you can do from bed. Add a reference photo for an item and the check gets quicker: your old shot ghosts over the viewfinder so you know the picture will count. On goals where a plain photo says enough, use a plain photo. Item check is there for the ones where it doesn't. WHY IT WORKS Losing ₹500 hurts more than gaining ₹500 feels good. That asymmetry is the entire mechanism — a future self who might feel like going is no match for a present self who is about to be ₹500 down. The charity is deliberately yours to choose. It has to be something you would genuinely rather not fund by accident, and it means the bad outcome still does some good for someone. Lokt is not on the other side of your goal. A PERSON CHECKS EVERY PROOF Every photo is reviewed by a human. If a review gets it wrong, you can say so and a second person looks again. Nothing is decided by a model you cannot argue with. WHAT LOKT IS NOT There is no opponent. There is no payout. The most you can ever receive is your own money, returned — never a rupee more. Lokt is not an investment, a savings product, or a source of returns. Your stake earns nothing while it is locked.
