It scrambles your message with a password before it is ever turned into light, so anyone else pointing a camera at the same flashlight sees only nonsense. The recipient needs the same password, and Secure Messaging of their own, to read it. The encryption adds only three characters to a message, so an encrypted transmission takes barely longer than a plain one.
