LEARN SOROBAN: Japanese Abacus

Learn Soroban is your comprehensive guide to the traditional Japanese abacus method. This educational app teaches you how to use the physical Soroban and progressively transition to Anzan (mental calculation) by visualizing the beads in your mind. WHAT IS THE SOROBAN? The Soroban is the Japanese version of the abacus, a powerful tool used for centuries to perform calculations with remarkable speed and accuracy. By mastering the bead movements, students develop a strong number sense and the ability to perform complex mental arithmetic (Anzan) without physical tools. Watch the Soroban beads animate as you learn the logic behind every addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The app explains the essential fingering rules (Thumb for Earth beads, Index for Heaven beads) and the left-to-right calculation method.
