Lap Map Alert texts your chosen contacts when you start, lap, or finish a run — with optional pace, ETA, and a Google Maps link from your Garmin watch. HOW IT WORKS 1. Install the Lap Map Alert data field on your Garmin from the Connect IQ Store. 2. Add that data field to a Run (or GPS) activity screen. 3. Install this Android app, add recipients, and turn texts ON before you start. 4. In Garmin Connect, turn Live Event Sharing OFF (More → Safety & Tracking) to avoid duplicate texts. WHAT GETS TEXTED You control the message: cumulative time/distance, last lap, pace/speed, estimated finish (if you set a race distance like 5K), and a maps link to your location. REQUIREMENTS • Garmin watch with Connect IQ • Garmin Connect installed and paired on your phone • Lap Map Alert watch data field installed and on your activity screen • SMS permission (texts send from your phone/number via your carrier) Privacy: no developer server. 0.2.18 — optional lap extras (all off by default) • Include heart rate, cadence, or power in SMS when the watch sends them • Optional short cue in texts if a lap looks off (fading, ETA slipped, HR up, cadence down) • Optional on-watch banner (not in headphones). Garmin hides this: Hold MENU → Activities & Apps → Run → Run Settings → Alerts → Add New → scroll to Connect IQ / Connect IQ Data Fields → Lap Map Alert. Full steps in Settings.
