Longer chains mean bigger scores — so every move is a choice between cashing in now or building toward something greater. Everyone plays the same board. Every day. Each day there is exactly one board per difficulty — same tiles, same layout, same drops, for every player on Earth. When you beat a friend's score, you didn't get a luckier board.
