Pixel Rewind Player

Pixel Rewind Player runs games that were made for the Nokia N-Gage, and the PC ports of those games, on the phone you already have. It is a player, not a game. The app ships with no game content of any kind — no code, artwork, sound or data belonging to any game. It is empty until you give it something to play. THREE FREE GAMES TO START WITH Three small games were written for it and cost nothing. Each is open source, with artwork that is free to use, and none of them needs an account or an internet connection. • Cloud Hop — a tap-to-fly game in landscape, played with the screen itself • Starfall — a top-down space shooter in portrait, built for the D-pad and buttons • Relic Rush — place a block, walk the path you made, steal the relic and run home BRING YOUR OWN GAME Point the app at a game you already have and it copies what it needs into its own storage. It takes an N-Gage .n-gage file, or the folder holding a PC port's program and its data files. Please only import games you have the right to use. THE ORIGINAL ENGINE, NOT A REMAKE Pixel Rewind does not rewrite the games it plays. It runs their original compiled program inside a CPU emulator and supplies the few system calls that program expects, so every frame, every sound and every rule comes from the original rather than an approximation of it. Nothing else needs installing: no Wine, no Java, no Symbian. MADE FOR A PHONE THAT ISN'T FROM 2008 • Landscape layouts that fill a widescreen display, or the original portrait shape • An on-screen D-pad and buttons, direct touch on the game, or a connected gamepad • Screens from 4:3 to 21:9 • Eight languages, with the app and the game kept in step ONLINE PLAY Some of these games had online modes against servers that were switched off years ago. Where that is the case, the app can connect to a community-run replacement instead. It is entirely optional: playing on your own never needs an account or a connection. PRIVACY • No advertising • No analytics and no tracking of any kind • No crash reporting • No third-party libraries or SDKs • One permission, internet access, used only if you play online Games you import and settings you change stay on your device.
