FIDD: Pothole Detector

Potholes are expensive: blown tires, bent rims, misaligned suspension and a real risk of accidents. FIDD (Intelligent Damage Detection Tool) turns your phone into a pothole detector and, together with other drivers, builds a collaborative map of your city's streets. HOW IT WORKS Turn detection on, put your phone in a mount and drive as usual. FIDD uses your phone's accelerometer, gyroscope and GPS to recognize the jolt of a pothole and pin its exact spot on the map. You can lock the screen: a notification shows that detection is running and lets you pause it at any time. Loose on the seat or in a pocket, readings are less reliable. Never handle your phone while driving. FIDD is designed to run on its own without needing your attention.
