Full description
cipherStream is the Android client for a media server you run on your own hardware. PLEASE READ FIRST This is not a movie or TV streaming subscription. You provide your own media files and connect the app to your own cipherStream server. There is no cipherStream cloud media library. WHAT YOU NEED • A cipherStream server on Linux (x86-64 or ARM64) or Windows (x86-64) • A licence for that server from cipherstream.iotsoftworks.com • Your own media files, stored on the server or a share it can access Enter your server's address and the viewer credentials supplied by its administrator. PHONE AND ANDROID TV Use touch controls on your phone and a D-pad interface on your television. Sign in manually on TV or pair it by scanning its QR code with a signed-in phone. YOUR SERVERS, TOGETHER Save several servers and switch between them without signing out. Turn on Combine libraries to browse their titles together, with viewing progress tied to the server that holds each copy. PLAY YOUR MEDIA Watch Matroska and MP4 files with multiple audio and subtitle tracks. Support includes HEVC and H.264 video, common audio formats, embedded text subtitles, sidecar subtitles and Blu-ray PGS image subtitles. Format support depends on the device and playback mode. Audio and subtitle preferences can be remembered by language. WATCH TOGETHER Host a synchronised watch party and invite viewers on your server. Chat and send emoji while watching. Link televisions for playback across rooms; each device uses its own speakers. YOUR PHONE AS A REMOTE Control a paired television: play, pause, seek, move to the next episode, and choose audio or subtitles. Search from your phone and browse cast details, the synopsis and other episodes. Move playback between your phone and television. TRIVIA WITH FRIENDS Open Games to host trivia or join using a room code. Choose categories and answer on your own screen. The server controls game availability and room settings; multiplayer requires other players and devices. OFFLINE VIEWING Download permitted titles on your phone for encrypted offline playback. Your server controls download availability and renewal. Downloads are phone-only; transfers may pause when the app is closed. Separate subtitle files are not included in downloads. GUEST ACCESS A server administrator can issue a time-limited guest pass for selected titles. Redeem it by QR code or by typing the code into the app. PERSONAL VIEWING Continue Watching, favourites, watched indicators, sorting and filters follow your viewer account. Where enabled by the server, leave notes at a moment in a title, skip detected intros and credits, and continue automatically to the next episode. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Requests and media use cipherStream's application-layer encryption. Downloaded media is encrypted on the device. No advertising or analytics is built into the app. Viewer accounts and viewing history live on the server you connect to. Artwork is fetched from The Movie Database; see our privacy policy for third-party services and diagnostic details. Android phones and Android TV. Not affiliated with or endorsed by any streaming service.
