The companion app for a pocket-sized, home-built gas detector. Carry the detector on a walk, and the app shows you the moment methane or LP gas rises around you. The detector is a small circuit board with two gas sensors, one for methane and one for LP gas such as propane and butane. It sends readings to your phone over Bluetooth four times a second. WHAT IT DOES • Live view: see how fast the gas reading is changing, second by second. • Spike alerts: the screen turns red and the phone beeps when the reading jumps. • Present mode: a big, simple full-screen view you can read at a glance or film. • Surveys: record a walk, with every reading tagged with your GPS position and time. • Share: export each survey as a CSV file to open on a computer or turn into a map. • Settings: set the spike threshold, turn beeps on or off, and calibrate each sensor. WHAT YOU NEED This app needs the sensor board. It does nothing useful without one. The board is an open design: the circuit files, the parts list, and instructions for building one are free on GitHub. PLEASE NOTE This is a citizen-science tool, not a certified safety device. It shows where gas rises, not exactly how much is there. If you smell gas or think there is a dangerous leak, leave the area and call your gas emergency number. Your location is used only to tag your readings. Nothing is sent to the internet, and surveys stay on your phone unless you choose to share them.
