Step through the solar eclipses from 1900 to 2200, one after another, on a 3D Earth you can spin and zoom. For each eclipse the path of totality or annularity is drawn on the globe, with the point of greatest eclipse marked and a band showing where the partial eclipse can be seen. The eclipse list is worked out on your phone when the app opens, using the open-source astronomy-engine library. BROWSE • Total, annular, hybrid and partial eclipses • Previous, next, first and last buttons • Jump to any year from 1900 to 2200 • Play mode steps to the next eclipse every two seconds FOR EACH ECLIPSE • Date and time of greatest eclipse (UTC) • Magnitude, gamma and central duration • Location of greatest eclipse, and the Sun's altitude there YOUR VIEWPOINT • Tap anywhere on the globe, or type a latitude and longitude • See the four contact times, how long totality or annularity lasts there, and how long the partial phases run EXPLORE THE GLOBE • Views: center on the path, the sun-facing side, or free rotate • Overlays: coastlines, latitude and longitude grid, night shading, penumbra band and landmarks • 17 world landmarks modeled in 3D, from the Eiffel Tower to Angkor Wat • Show the Math: a step-by-step panel with the numbers behind the selected eclipse Never look at the Sun without proper eye protection.
