Holy History

Holy History is a quiet place to read the Bible and see where each part of it sits in the story. A TIMELINE YOU CAN ZOOM From Creation to the present age, on one continuous line you can pinch and pan. Events, the writing of the books, and the empires they happened under each sit in their own lane, so the exile and the prophets who wrote during it line up where they belong. Zoom out for the shape of the whole thing; zoom in until a single decade fills the screen. It carries the history of the church too, past the last page of Acts and down to now. UNDEMANDING BY DESIGN No account. No sign-up. No ads. No tracking, no analytics, no telemetry. Nothing you read leaves your phone. The app asks for no device permissions at all, and touches the network only when you choose to read a chapter in the ESV. Dark parchment-and-gold throughout — made to be read at night, and easy on a phone screen in a dim room. READ THE BIBLE You can read in the English Standard Version and King James Version, with no setup and nothing to sign up for. EVERY BOOK AND CHAPTER, SUMMARIZED A theme line and an overview for all 66 books, and a summary for every one of the 1,189 chapters. Each summary carries its connections — the passages it echoes, quotes, answers, or is answered by — and every reference is a link straight into the reader. It is the difference between reading Isaiah 53 and reading Isaiah 53 with the four New Testament writers who reach back for it one tap away. STILL TO COME Maps of the journeys through Scripture, and guided reading plans. Both appear in the app now as "coming soon" cards, so you can see where it is going. — The King James Version is in the public domain.
