hisTOURy – Street Stories

Every street is named after someone. hisTOURy tells you who — out loud, as you pass. Start a drive and put the phone away. When you approach a street named after a real person, hisTOURy plays a short spoken story about them: who they were, when they lived, what they did, and the one detail worth remembering. Around forty seconds, then silence until the next one. It runs in the background alongside Google Maps, with controls on your lock screen. You never need to look at the screen while moving. WHAT YOU HEAR Real people, drawn from Wikipedia and Wikidata — architects, scientists, writers, generals, revolutionaries, poets. No filler, no invented facts, no "let this remind you" endings. Just the story, then back to your music. HOW IT WORKS • Pick your city — the streets download once, so proximity works offline • Drive, walk or cycle; stories trigger as you approach • Lock-screen controls: skip what bores you, like what doesn't • Read along: open any story to see its text on screen, highlighted as it plays • Your history is kept, so you can revisit anyone you heard COVERAGE We are focusing on Europe first. PRIVACY No account required. Location is used on your device to work out which street you are near, and is never shared with anyone. Sign-in is optional and only syncs your listening history between your own devices. hisTOURy is free to use, with a daily limit on stories.
