Full description
Film cameras don't remember anything. Emulsen does. It keeps track of which film is in which camera, what frame you're on, and where every roll is in its life — from the moment you load it to the scans months later. KNOW WHAT'S LOADED A shelf of your cameras, each showing its film and frame count, or a clear EMPTY. Add a body and Emulsen fills in what it knows: battery type, battery quirks, and the failure modes that specific model is known for. 72 cameras in the built-in reference so far. TAP TO OPEN Stick an NFC tag or a printed QR label on a camera. Tap it with your phone and Emulsen opens straight to that camera — no menus, no searching, and it works even when the app is closed. LOG A FRAME IN ONE TAP A big counter, and a record of where you are on the roll. Note the lens, the EI you rated it at, whether you pushed or pulled. KEEP YOUR FILM STRAIGHT A film fridge for what you own — quantities, formats, and expiry dates, with a warning before anything turns. Load a camera straight from your inventory. METER THE SCENE Point your phone at the scene and get an aperture and shutter for the film's speed. It's a solid starting point, not a replacement for a handheld meter, and it says so. DON'T LOSE A ROLL AT THE LAB Log the drop-off and the expected turnaround, and get a reminder when the roll is probably ready. No more finding an envelope in a drawer in March. SEE THE POSITIVE Photograph a developed negative on a lightbox and Emulsen flips it to a positive you can actually read — enough to see what you got before you scan. Share it if you like it. EVERY ROLL, REMEMBERED Each roll keeps its camera, film, EI, frame log, dates, and a link to the scans, then archives into your history. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Everything lives on your phone in a local database. No account, no cloud, no analytics, no tracking, nothing uploaded. It works with the phone in airplane mode, which is convenient in a darkroom and essential in a field. Export a backup whenever you want. PRO Unlimited cameras and rolls, plus: Darkroom mode — a safelight timer that runs your development steps in red light, with haptic agitation cues you can feel with wet hands, and timing that stays honest if the app is interrupted. Development times for 10 black-and-white films across 8 developers, hand-keyed from manufacturer datasheets and cited to the page, plus the standard C-41 and E-6 process steps. It also spots when several exposed rolls share a time and can share a tank. Your stats — rolls, frames, the film you actually keep coming back to. $49 once, or $19.99 a year, or $2.99 a month. The lifetime option is the honest one. FREE AND PRO Up to 3 cameras and 5 active rolls, with the meter, the negative viewer, and the film guide included. Emulsen is built by one film photographer who got tired of sticky notes on camera backs. Feedback goes straight to a person: [email protected]
