Full description
Who Paid My Doc is a fast, careful reader for the U.S. Open Payments database — the federal record of payments and transfers of value that drug and medical device companies report making to physicians, teaching hospitals, and other recipients. Every year manufacturers report billions of dollars in consulting fees, speaking payments, travel, meals, royalties, research funding, and ownership interests. The data is public. It is also enormous, awkward to query, and easy to misread. Who Paid My Doc makes it something you can actually look through on a phone. WHAT YOU CAN LOOK UP • Doctors — lifetime totals, payment counts, specialty percentile, year-by-year history, and who paid them • Manufacturers and group purchasing organisations — what a company reported, to whom, and in which categories • Teaching hospitals — institutional totals, kept separate from individual ones • Products and brands — the drugs and devices attached to the money • Individual payment records — date, amount, nature of payment, and the product involved EXPLORE WITH NO NAME IN MIND • A yearly overview: general, research, and ownership totals, participant counts, and the monthly trend • Leaderboards: top manufacturers, doctors, teaching hospitals, products, and non-covered recipients • Breakdowns by nature of payment, state, specialty, recipient type, product category, travel destination, and more • Search and filters across every entity type BUILT NOT TO MISLEAD YOU The care is in the details: • General, research, and ownership money are never added into a single "total". They are different kinds of money, and a combined figure means nothing. • Names never appear alone. Around a quarter of recipient profiles share a name with another profile, so every name is shown with a city, state, or specialty beside it. • Being named as a principal investigator on a study is shown separately from being paid as a recipient. They are not the same thing. • Truncated rankings say so. A top ten that looks complete is a lie by omission. • Every figure is tied to a program year, and the year is always on screen. WHAT IS INCLUDED • Anyone: search, identity details, headline figures, and the full insights dashboard, with no account needed • Signed in with Google or Apple: five detailed breakdowns a day • Subscription: unlimited breakdowns, plus saved contacts with your own tags and private notes Records you have already opened and notes you have written stay readable when you are offline. ABOUT THE DATA Who Paid My Doc displays data published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) under the Open Payments program, refreshed at each import. We do not verify, edit, or correct the underlying records. Disputes about a record are handled by CMS at cms.gov/openpayments. IMPORTANT Who Paid My Doc is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by CMS or any U.S. government agency. A payment record is not evidence of wrongdoing. Financial relationships between industry and medicine are legal, common, and often necessary for research. Who Paid My Doc reports what was disclosed. It does not judge it. Who Paid My Doc is not a consumer reporting agency, and the information in it is not a consumer report. Do not use it to make decisions about employment, credit, insurance, housing, or any other purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
