BambooPause is a calm self-control app for the moment right before you slip. Most motivation apps work after the fact. BambooPause works at the urge moment. You make one commitment: whenever you feel the pull towards a habit you want less of (junk food, smoking, doomscrolling, spending, anything), you open BambooPause first, before you act. How it works • Tap "I have an urge" in the app, or straight from the home-screen widget. • Your vault opens: your own photos, your written "why", and your hype song if you chose one. • A gentle breathing ring gives you a few quiet seconds to sit with it. No countdown, no pressure. Move your body if that helps more. • Log the urge in three taps: how strong it was, what set it off, and what happened. Both outcomes count. Resisted or gave in, every log is data, never failure. Your bamboo grows a new segment at each milestone, and it never shrinks, never dies, never resets to zero. Growth pauses, then resumes. Bend, don't break. Your vault • A few photos of what you are doing this for. • Your "why", in your own words. • A hype song. Search the catalog inside the app and a 30-second preview plays in your vault, even offline. Or paste a Spotify or Apple Music link. • A bend plan: one small thing to do instead, decided ahead of time. "When stressed, I will step outside for a minute." Insights that stay honest • Current run, longest run, total pauses and resist rate. Counts and percentages, nothing invented. • Money saved and time reclaimed, if you set a cost per occurrence. • An urge calendar, one square per day. • Pattern insights once you have logged 20 urges: your most common triggers, your risky window, and whether your song helps. • Custom variables: track mood, sleep, company or anything else alongside every urge. • An optional gentle reminder shortly before your risky hour. Once a day, never more, off by default. • A share card of your own numbers: your bamboo, your day count, your pauses. Never your photos, never your why. Private by design • No account. No cloud.
