Hanayomi is a Japanese dictionary that works with the network off. The whole dictionary ships inside the app, so a search returns in milliseconds on a plane, on the metro, or in a classroom with no signal. Search the way the word arrives to you. Type Japanese (水), romaji (mizu), or just the meaning in English, Portuguese or Spanish, and Hanayomi finds it. Conjugated forms resolve to their dictionary form, so 食べます finds 食べる. • 37,000+ words and 5,855 kanji, all bundled offline • Search by Japanese, romaji, or meaning in English, Portuguese or Spanish • Readings with furigana over the kanji that need it • Numbered senses with parts of speech and JLPT level • Kanji pages: on and kun readings, meanings, radical components, and the words that use them • Results ranked by how common a word actually is, not by dictionary order • No account, no ads, no tracking, no network Built from the open JMdict and KANJIDIC dictionaries, with Portuguese and Spanish translations added.

What's new

• Stroke practice got a big upgrade: trace a kanji full screen, keep your progress when you switch views, and see clearly how many strokes you have written. • Kanji readings now sit beside the character, and long readings stay neatly lined up with the word. • Tap any word in a sentence breakdown to jump straight to its entry. • Cleaner buttons, badges and headers throughout, with clearer labels. • Long press an example sentence to copy it.
