Full description
Daleel reads the ingredients panel on packaged food and tells you whether it is halal, doubtful or haram, with the evidence for every ingredient. Daleel (دليل) means “the evidence”. HOW IT WORKS Take one photo of the ingredients list. Daleel reads each ingredient in printed order, works out where it comes from (plant, dairy, meat, fish, insect, alcohol, or a source the packet leaves open) and rules on each one and on the whole product. It reads the label itself, so it works on store brands, imports and products a barcode database has never seen. EVIDENCE FOR EACH INGREDIENT Every ingredient shows its source, its standing and the reason. If a product is doubtful or haram, Daleel names the ingredients that decided it. WHERE SCHOLARS DIFFER, YOU CHOOSE Seafood other than fish, carmine (E120), shellac (E904), trace alcohol as a carrier, and animal rennet are questions qualified scholars answer differently. Choose the position you follow and Daleel applies it to every panel. Until you choose, it shows both positions. THE METHOD The default for food is permissibility. Haram only on clear evidence: pig and its derivatives, intoxicants, blood, carrion, or meat not slaughtered according to Islamic requirements. When the packet does not establish a source, the answer is doubtful. Daleel never guesses slaughter method from a brand or a country. FREE E-NUMBER AND INGREDIENT REGISTER 47 additives and ingredients, including gelatine, E471, E120, glycerol, L-cysteine, rennet, whey and natural flavourings. What each is, where it comes from, its standing and what to check. Works offline, no account. ASK THE MAKER For ingredients with an unclear source, Daleel drafts an email to the manufacturer asking the right question. NOTEBOOK AND ASSISTANT Your readings stay on your phone and update if you change a position. Ask the assistant about additives, slaughter and labels. PRIVATE No account or sign-up. Your notebook and positions stay on your phone. With your permission, panel photos and assistant questions are sent to OpenRouter and its AI providers for processing. Optional basic usage counts are off by default and exclude readings, questions and positions. SUBSCRIPTION Reading panels and the assistant need a subscription. The register, notebook and positions are free. Weekly and yearly auto-renewing plans, priced in the app in your currency. Cancel anytime in Google Play > Subscriptions. AI can misread a label. Check the transcription against the packet before relying on an assessment. Daleel does not certify products. Daleel gives guidance read from the label with its reasoning shown. It is not a binding fatwa. For anything consequential, ask a qualified scholar.

What's new

A new Daleel experience: photograph ingredient lists, read the evidence behind each ruling, choose the scholarly position you follow, and keep a local notebook of readings.
