Embertree: family tree

Embertree is a private space where a family builds its tree together, records the stories behind it, and keeps them for the people who come after. Most family apps are built for research into the dead. Embertree is built for the living: the aunt three time zones away, the grandfather whose voice you have never recorded, the cousins who have never met. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Build the family tree together. Parents, children, spouses, adoption, step-families and the parents nobody knows the name of. Everyone in the space can add what they know. • Record a voice. Sit with a grandparent, press record, and keep the way they tell it. Each recording is transcribed so it can be read as well as heard. • Write the stories down. Long or short, with the people they are about attached to them. • Keep the photographs. Add them from the camera or the library, caption them, and say who is in them. • Invite by email. Send a link; a relative joins as an editor who can add, or as a reader who can only look. • Read it with no signal. The tree, the people and the latest stories stay readable on the plane and in the countryside. • Lock the app behind Face ID or a fingerprint, because a family archive is not a photo feed. PRIVATE BY DEFAULT. NEVER SOLD. NEVER SEARCHABLE. Nothing in Embertree is public. There is no global tree strangers can edit, no search that finds your family from outside it, and no advertising. Your family's data is encrypted in transit and at rest with a key held per family, and it is never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never used to train third-party models. NO DNA. NO ARCHIVES. NO GUESSING. Embertree does not sell DNA tests, does not estimate your ethnicity, and does not search census records. It holds what your family knows and what your family says. FREE, AND MEANT TO STAY THAT WAY The free plan is not a trial: a small family can use Embertree for as long as it likes. Paid plans add seats and storage; they never lock away what you have already written. English and French, on the phone and on the web.
